Calm and simple Sunday.

Today was one of those better days, one that leaves you in a good mood. I was able to go horseback riding today thanks to my friend Dayna (is the best friend ever). I haven't been riding in 10 years, pretty much exactly, since the last time was for my 16th birthday. Over this past November (yeah that happened already?) I turned 26. I'm not going to talk about how time flies, but in a way I just did.

Anyway the ride was great. My horse was testing me out, and I was grateful because it enabled me to interact with him, let me get a feel for what to do, and how much or little pressure to do it at. He was a sweet horse, especially for letting my giant butt hop on him. I'm 5'8" and overweight, so it's funny when I go trail riding and they always have to break out their "big horse". Jack, the horse I rode, was huge! He looked like a draft, but I don't believe he was fully. He was white, fluffy for the winter, and so handsome.

Look at how small he makes the saddle look! We went on a short trail for an hour, and all the while I was practicing my riding posture. I was excited about that for some reason. While we were riding I realized that it made me so content that I didn't care what anyone else was doing, or what worries I had. I didn't care because I was happy right where I was, riding Jack the horse and being outdoors. I think it's safe to say that I really do love the outdoors and horses. Yep.

I think the fact that I almost finished 5 doll heads yesterday might have added to my good mood today. I will have 3 dolls finished and up on Flickr as soon as they dry. Relief.

Horses, Neverland, and Bowie.

This weekend was rather interesting even though I just did normal everyday things. See, life does seem better when you focus on the positive. Haha, ok guru mode over.

One thing I am proud to say is that commissions are finally moving along and getting done. I could not be happier. I recently finished Pyrope's girls, and I am not working on Karleecakes and Gloria's commission. Pyrope had me do a very unique theme for her Minifee Ryeon that I was delighted to be asked to do. I mean how can you deny anything Bowie? I'm glad Pyrope was happy with the results.

This past Sunday I introduced my friend to volunteering at the horse retirement. I recently learned that she likes horses as well, and would like to volunteer too! I couldn't be more excited because now I have someone to go with, and she has a car so we can go without having to worry about getting my parents truck. We are going to go riding next weekend. I haven't been on a horse since I was about 16, so I can't wait.

Did anyone else catch Neverland on Syfy last night? Wasn't it pretty good? It's a two part prequel series about how Neverland and the whole relationship amongst the character developed into the story we all know. I was surprised when Bob Hoskins appeared as Smee! It was perfect! (Hook 1991 revisited). To top it off I had a crush on Charles Dance when I was a little girl and Last Action Hero came out, and Rhys Ifans is quite handsome as well. ♥ So it made it even better. The story is good too. ^_~

I'm beat.

Just got back from the stables and a quick trip to Ikea. I got some boxes for my closet, and the wrong thing for rod for my closet again.. I'm so tired.

On Saturday I sent out a new newsletter! Also, everyone who subscribed to the mailing list has been added, an extra thank you to you. Please visit the Newsletter page to see the latest message.

What I also did on Saturday was go to the Sakura Matsuri at the Botanical Gardens in Brooklyn. It was pretty cool. I have some photos I took with my phone, but I am too lazy and tired to upload them..

Maybe I should take a nap...I shoveled/forked a lot of horse crap and hay today. Lol..

Zzzzz...

Horses

Up early on this glorious Sunday to head to the horse retirement. Sadly, one horse will not be there. Not because she was adopted, but because she was really old. She was the first horse I got to stand next to and brush, to almost get crushed against a wall by, to attempt to place a halter on, to lead, and most importantly to show me how stupid I am. Haha. She was put to sleep this past week. I will miss her, and I'm glad she taught me some lessons in her last months. She was 28 and getting really skinny, so the vet said it was time. I'm not too sad because she was really sick, and she led a really good life. I think working at the vet hardened my sole! Nooo.

I love Saturday's because I get to work.

This past Saturday I was able to return to the horse retirement to volunteer. The weekend prior I wasn't able to go, and before that I was away. The last time I was there I threw my back out, and had to leave earlier than desired. I love going, and it was a real bummer when that happened. I definitely felt useless this weekend because I was afraid to do anything too strenuous. I must exercise and strengthen myself because I want to keep going. I love the horses there so much! Especially this goofy, handsome fella!

His name is Jumbo, and I believe he's 7 or 8. He is a sweet boy, but since I am so "green" he does these certain things to test me that I'm not ready for. (Slowly increasing his mouthing until he has my jacket sleeve in his mouth, with my hand dangling, just staring at me.) It's kind of funny to witness, but only kind of. All the horses there teach me that I have a lot to learn!

A funny story, before I went to the horse retirement, I had to get my bag packed so I had a change of clothes for my Grandma's 70th surprise party after. My uncle lives right near the place so I was able to swing by and volunteer before the party. Well I managed to pick a horrible outfit (see through shirt) in the rush to get ready in the morning. So I had nothing to wear besides dirty, hay smellin' clothes. Luckily, my mom told me there was an outlet mall around here and allowed me to get an outfit. Luckily again I was in and out with a lovely outfit.

Right now I have to finish two face-up's for Aves, and perhaps read some history homework, which probably won't do. I finished a paper 5 days before it was due on Thursday. I was so proud, granted I did skip art class... but it was for the greater good!!

My dream come true!

I am going to make this fast because I must get ready to go. This morning I'm heading out to a horse rescue where I signed up to be a volunteer! I have loved horses ever since I was a little girl, but growing up in the city kept me from being near them. I can count the amount of times I've rode a horse on one hand. So now that I'm 25, and I suppose smarter, I came to the conclusion that why the heck am I not volunteering or working at a stable? Stupid idiot! Usually it's because of a transportation thing, but I'm making it work. It's an hour away from where I live. I was lucky today to have my parents needing to go to Philadelphia. They are going to drop me off on the way there, and then pick me up. I'm so excited, I'm getting closer to my dream of being around horses. I'm starting this way so that I can get used to, or experience, the hard stuff first. I want to make sure I can be willing to do it. And so, I am off on one of the coldest days ever to work outside and it's all to help horses. Let's do this!

In doll news, commissions are getting held off because of all this busy-ness, and I hate it! Not only do I need to get them finished for people who are waiting, but doing commissions is my only income. I'm happy to say I've completed one that just needed to be fixed. Then I have to wait to get these other dolls in the mail. Damn postal service!

Alright, that is all for now. Enjoy this horse picture.

Taking it back to the early 2000s!

I was feeling nostalgic thinking back to how I used to obsess over making my own websites over the summer. There was a particular style bac...
